Another sneek peek at one of my current projects, "Ont".

This sure is one of the most visually challenging comics I've ever done.

I'm really pushing myself, trying to get better with every panel and not chickening out with the black areas! My goal is to use as much black as I dare to get more depth into my pages.

My plan is to also computer color one gray shade to create depth.

I can hardly wait 'til I'm done!

And, my thoughts are with the victims of the Norway massacre and their loved ones.

It's a horrible, horrible thing that happened this Friday, and I can't put words on how devastating this truly is.

We've been friends since the winter 2004/2005! Time sure fly!

Here's a picture I drew for an art-trade with her when she came over to visit last week. It's been way too long since we last spent one on one time together!

I had such a good time! :D Just chillin, talking and "fika" (best Swedish thing ever!). Lying on the floor, drawing and listening to music, no need for words! Oh, it sure brings back sweet sweet memories of how high school used to be! *^^*

Another quick update.

Just scanned a few pictures, and this one is just too good not to share!

Another of my serious attempts at drawing a "manly man" last week.. Didn't really work out the way I wanted.. HOW did he end up standing in that riddiculous pose!? Gah!! (hence the shojo-glitter effect)

It's not that I don't enjoy manly men (trust me, personally I'm more into the broad, hairy viking/gladiator/cowboy kind of guys) but this is what I end up drawing!! DD: What the heck!!

This comes from favouring drawing curvy women all the time!

Well, at least now I know what I need to practice this summer.. -____-'

The outlook for this summer is work work woooork.. And work..

I hope to spend some evenings with my friends, but more or less I'm all work this summer.

Fulltime at my "parttime" gives me less time for my art and other projects, but it's all good.. I'm superwoman!! FaitooOOOooo!!

This summer I've rented a workspace at Seriestudion, Malmö. Feels so good to be in such an inspiering environment. I'll update later what my project is.. ;)

This weekend I went to Lund and Mangakai Lund's Kodachi-con! :D

An event/festival for japanese popular culture with tons of fun! Anime, dorama, art, food, games, cosplay, competition etc.

T.Wadbro, Diana Davidsson and me. :)

I finally got to wear my new yukata! Yay!

I had SO much fun all weekend! And, even though I was one of the "gophers" and organizers, and had tons of stuff to get done and work the whole weekend, I had a great time hanging out with all the friends I don't get to see very often.

Digital coloring

Hello world!

The sun is shining today, and I just had some ice cream and coffee, and soon I'm off to my parttime job.

But, first:

I was going to color this lineart today and thought "Heck! I'm going to try out some digital coloring!"

So I did, but tried to keep that smudged feel I like with my watercolors. Not 100% what I wanted the outcome to be, but I'm learning :)

Does anyone have any good points on digital coloring, or a specific programme, that gives a watercolor look?

I did!!! I did! I DIIIID! :DD

So, here it is; my new look;

(sorry, I didn't even bother to comb my hair yesterday, since it was all going OFF anyways!)

and at the hair dresser's after she'd done her magic;

I went to Sofie at Frisyrmakarna in Malmö and was SOOO satistied with her work! :D

She seemed to enjoy cutting my hair, and she knew what she was doing. Highly reccomended!

But, Fanny!? Why did you cut your hair so short?!

Well, I've been thinking about cutting it really short for quite some while.. Especially after watching Big Bang (one of my fave music groups; a korean "boyband") music videos this fall and realizing how totally AWESOME TaeYang looked in his mohawk, and I thought "Heck, I can pull that of!"

(though I don't want it that short on the sides.. )

Actually, what I originally wanted to do was let my hair grow long again.. But, that takes a few years, and I figured, well, since it's already pretty short, I might as well go all out and cut it even shorter before letting it grow again :) I mean, why not? And, I've been wanting to cut it for some time, but haven't dared to. I've been worried that it would be against work dresscode. So I'd decided to wait and not cut it until I start the university this fall, but .. I didn't really want to wait that long..

So, when my colleague assured me that I can wear my hair whichever way I want to work, I thought "Why wait? Let's do it!!"

So, yesterday it all went down.

And this is how awesome I look today..

I'm very excited and happy that it looks so great! The sun is shining and all is well. Still, I have a zillion of things to get done today, but I couldn't feel much better about myself right now!

Also, today is the international women's day!

Phew!

It was a long, hard night of work..

Yes.. ALL night. I got home yesterday around 9 pm after workning the evening shift at my "dayjob". And, then I drew drew drew. Sketched, inked, scanned, computer touched-up and added text and by noon today it was all done and sent in! Go me! :D

I've been overly busy lately and more or less had to finsih the entire 16page comic (+ titelpage and selfportrait) in just two weeks. And, I did! Everything's poss

ible! Still while having my "regular" job as well :)

I can't express how proud I am of myself! I've worked hard and done what's needed to be done!

It's cold outside in Malmö town, and I'm staying indoors, doing my best to keep warm while working hard at finishing my submission to the Swedish Comic Sin number 2 anthology.

This while baby-sitting the family dog for over a week.. it has it's challenges, like paws running across originals, but we're getting by...

For some reason I decided to put long, curly, wavy hair on the female main character and a just as flowing, frilly dress on her as well.. It's turned out it's a lot of fun to draw and ink with the brush.. but it takes a lot more time that I'd thought, and I still have my day-job, so.. well.. Not a whole lot of sleep, and way too much candy and coffee, but it's getting close to being finished :) Fun fun fuuuun!

The SCS2 will be out for the Swedish SPX in Stockholm may 6-8 2011.

Challenge: "perfection"

"What's most important is how we look."

Monday, I hung out, drawing with my dear friend Malin and she showed me the movie "Killing us Softly 4" by Jean Kilbourne.

It shows examples of advertisements, and how women are portrayed, objectified and sexualized in today's advertisement. But, also how we always have been, at least during the 30some years of her research, and that it's escalating, creating an unreachable image of "perfection" that youcannot diet yourself into.

Advertisement teaches us, that no matter what you do, as a woman, it's all about how we look. Not what's inside. Not your personality. Advertisement tells us a man will never love you for who you are, but for how you look.

Advertisement makes us feel bad, ashamed of ourselves and our bodies. And, why?! The answer is; to make a profit.

Really, you should all watch this video! It's really an eye-opening experience!

I was shocked and enraged!

Why do we have to look a certain way? Well.. No! We do NOT!

Kilbourne teaches us about computer editing and that also, the body type that's presented in most advertisements only make up 5% of women! Most women, genetically, cannot look like models! Why do we even bother to try?!

I'm not saying that skinny people are evil, nor that obecety is a good thing. I really do believe weshould all strive to be healthy, eat balanced and exercise on a regular basis (you don't have to be an athelete, just be sure to take a walk and/or run once in a while!)

What I'm saying is that we do NOT have to feel bad about our bodies. Emrace yourself. You are perfect just the way you are!

I look around me, and notice that in comics, also, most women are long-legged, volumptious and skinny. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but it does remind me of the way women are portrayed in advertisement and fashion. The media's "ideal beauty".

I try to draw a bit more curvy women once in a while, but now I felt I should realy go all out and therefore challenged myself to draw a body-type I usually do not draw. And I challenge all of you to do the same!!

So, here I present to you;

Perfection.

Yes, she's a heavy set, naked woman.

It's a drawing.

Deal with it.

(I won't censor it, there's nothing wrong with a drawing of a naked body. Go to a museum and see for yourselves!)

Fanny is officially a "crazy fish lady" and "mother" of six..

Finally.
After years of longinly watching fishtanks, I have my own filled with lovelies again!

When I was a kid, I had a fishtank at my Dad's.
Then tens years went by. Fishless. Due to my living-situation(s) over the last few years, I've been unable to keep an aquarium. But, when I got the news I DID get the rental-apartment I applied for my first thoughts were:
"YES! YES! YES! Independence! I can do whatever I want! I'm going to have FISHES AGAIN!"

I was SO excited!
I went to Dad's basement, dug up the fishtank and fixed it up. Replaced some parts of the pump, filled it with water and plants and let it stand and become "fish-ready" for a week before taking that belonged trip to the zoo-store to pick my babies up. :)
The picture above shows the fish-less tank. It stands, tastefully, in my kitchen. (please spare me the sushi-jokes.. it's not funny -___-') That way I can enjoy their company while having my breakfast! :)

This is what I brought home with me from the store!
Fish-food. water-cleaner, rocks, holiday-food and two bags with fishes, wrapped in news paper. I felt so sorry for them! And wanted them out of there as soon as possible, but you can't just throw them into the tank. They might get a chock from the difference in water-temperature.

"Hello! Hello! Let us out! .. Please?!"

To make sure the fish won't go into chock, you place the bags (still closed) in the tank for (at least) 15 minutes so that the water in the bag will get the same temperature as the water in the tank.

Here's Snape. He's pretty agressive. For being a fantail fish.

Here's Luke. Or Leia.. I don't know.. They both look the same. That's why they have similar names XD

Picture (above) taken with flash. Sadly their colors don't show so well.. Here's Naruto. I HAD to get a goldfish, just to give him (I suspect it's a her, actually) the name Naruto. For the heck of it. Then there's Nypon (swedish word for "rosehip", named by Malin) and Stephanie, becuause I felt I had to name something after someone in the Stephanie Plum-series.. I suspect Stephanie is a male.. Ah, well, what to do..

And, yes, those are pokémon glass-balls.

I've had them for almost two weeks and we're getting by fine :)
Fintail fishes doesn't have a proper stomach (just an intestine) and thereby need to get fed twice a day. Hungry little fatties. They also need a lot of cleaning, the messy little buggers, and they "re-arrange" the sand all the time.
But, ah, still, gotta love them. They're cute, and good company.
Guess I'm a nerd. Nothing new, though.

Not quite winter, not quite spring

Malmö sure is cold and gray this time of year.. Not cold enough to actually be called winter, but not warm enough for the spring flowers to bloom. Even though most of the snow's melted away, there's still plenty of ice and the roads are slippery.

Today, I'm off from my daytime-job and has spent it doing laundrary and my book-keeping, which actually isn't as hard as I've thought it'd be.. Just keep things simple and you'll be alright ;D (talking about the book-keeping here, washing clothes is a piece of cake! *housewife-skills*)

Also, I'm "dogsitting" today. My Dad's and his ladyfriend Ann's Rottweiler/Setter-something named Roxy, who is just a total doll.. She's quite a handful, but a lot of fun..

She's such a good, sweet dog. But, ah, when she plays.. she plays hard.. ;D

Gosh, I'm soooo bad at updating this thing! Ah, well, anyways, here we go:

Hope ya'll had a great holiday and new year's celebration with friends and/or family! :D I know I sure did! :) I spent a lovely three weeks in Colorado this winter, and it was ton's of fun. (update on this later) But, now I'm back in lovely Malmö again, and already it's back to work work woooork! :)

My "regular-grown-up"-job's going great so far! I really enjoy it, and my colleagues are a lot of fun. :) Also, I think it's good for me to get all that exercise and workout (honestly, working at a grocery store is HARD work!) since I otherwise spend most of my time on my butt: drawing, reading and writing.. And I still have an unhealthy relationship to candy.. :/ Ah, well.. I can't be all saint, gotta have some flaws ;D

ATM I'm adding the last touches at the zombie-comic. It's been hard, long work, but I think it's looking GREAT! I hope the writer of the script'll be as happy about the outcome as I am :)

But, looking at my reference pictures of Amsterdam makes me really want to go there. It looks like a very different, interesting town! The houses are just amazing, all crammed together, more or less on top of one another.. A pain to draw, but it looks really neat! :D

Hello all!

I've felt more or less "creatively-drained" lately, and last week I also got a really bad cold and spent Thursday-Friday in bed, sleeping. So, this weekend I decided to NOT push myself and draw.

This resulted in me waking up this morning (Monday) feeling filled with excitement and will to draw!
So, here it is, the first sketches of the last page for "After Petroleum", my first comic-collaboration!

It's Margaret Killjoy's script and my drawings.
I don't know how many times I've tried to get that first panel right! I've drawn it over and over again, but hopefully, it'll work out this time :) I changed the angle of the table and some of the setting, but mostly it's the same as the script. I've done my best to stick with the script, and only done a few minor changes (like, angles and character positions etc.)
Ooooh~ I can't wait 'til I get to put ink on the pages! But, his script's much more detailed than mine (backgrounds etc) so it takes longer than usual to draw. For example, this room's filled with people and dining-ware. But, it really is fun to challenge myself in this new way :)

Hello everyone!

Hope you're being able to keep (somewhat) warm in this snowy winter-madness! My best advice is tea, tea, and tea!
Sadly, I haven't been doing a very well job on this myself.. Since.. Well, I'm down with a pretty bad cold. More or less lost my voice (hurts!), but been home (and sleeping) all day and hope to be back to "normal" and work soon. :)

Anyhow, here's my (late) update from AltCom, the "alternative comic"-festival that was held here in beautiful Malmö in November.

There was tons of exhibitions and events, which mostly I missed due to work (a girl's gotta eat!), but I was able to catch a few of them.

Below's two pics from the "MAUS"-exhibitions opening at the city library in Malmö, November 3rd.
(it will stay at there until January 16th, so there's plenty of time if you want to have a look at it (which, of course, is the case ~.^))

Malin and I. My "oldest" friend. She's the freckled cat portrayed in my comic (seen in the background). Love her so much! (Have a peek at her marvelous photography at her blog!)

I'm bad at taking pictures sometimes, I only have a handful from the opening of the exhibition. But, I take it that's better than none? Here's my very skilled and badass friend Robin! :DD

The "Mus/Mouse/Maus"-project is held by Jamil Mani and the Swedish Comic's Society. My addition can be seen at the exhibition, in Bild & Bubbla number 184 and below;

I was lucky enough to be present at the festival's main weekend (November 12-14th). It sure was a lot of fun, and a very inspiering atmosphere to be in. I got to meet tons of new, very interesting people, from all over the world and it sure was a very giving experience.
When not sitting at the table selling fanzines with co-ThinkInk;er Nathalie, and great buddies from PonnyKlubben, I helped out with the presentation and interviews of the festival's guests. Which is something I really enjoy to do and hope to do more in the future :)

For my non-Swedish speaking friends and colleagues; this is a project called "Serier mot Rasism", which means "Comics Against Racism". A few of the brilliant students of this year's first graders at the Comic Art School in Malmö started this, and they've gotten a lot of positive response!
And, what can I do but agree? All kind of discrimination (gender, "race", age, sexual preferences) are NOT okay. And, comics and/or/ pictures are a great way to express views and personal opinions and share experiences. That is why I'm taking part in this project. So should you! If not by drawing, then by purchasing the anthology (it's in Swedish, but I'm sure the point still gets across).

Sneak-peek at my two contributions. I hope they'll approve and put one or both of them in the anthology. :)

I took a break in my work on the zombie-killing dutch girl and drew some lovely "Swedish" ladies yesterday. Inked them today. With a traditional brush only. Not to brag, but I think Im'm slowly getting a hold of it :) And, it's fun with the thickness and way the lines curves and bends. Also, it's cheap (this compared to expensive pens). Highly reccomended tool to use!

This while having the song "Swedish Girls" on repeat. I don't know why, but that song's just stuck to me and I looove it! Such an up-beat song! Energy! *thumbs up*

Hello everyone!

Fall is here. Leaves falling down. Winter-jacket on. Cold. Cold. Cold. Two covers + double fleece-blanket when I go to bed (+ payamas). Wind and rain in the town of Malmö, Sweden. But, still, I'm smiling.

My life continues to be somewhat chaotic, even though it's slowly sorting itself out and calming down (thank God!)..

First; I was lucky enough to stumble across a available apartment. Then I got my old day-time job back. Still, working on several art-project. A lot to do. A LOT to do. At the same time... As always.. But, hey, I guess I'm used to it by now.. I guess I've always been this way. Always tons of stuff going on..

So, I moved into my lovely little apartment about twoo weeks ago. Several of my friends helped me out! THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate your time and effort! Couldn't have done it without you! (4th floor, no elevator!) There's still a massive clutter, and tons of stuff everywhere. This due to lack of time to sort through it all (a girl's gotta work!) and a massive number of books.. Well, I don't want to say i have too many books (mostly comics). I'd rather say my bookshelves are too small!

I also have several deadlines crowding on top of each other.. (November is a heck of a month for me!) And, working longer hours at my daytime-job than planned, lead up to last week looking like this;

- getting up early (8.30) and drawing right away

- working 8 ½ hours

- going home and drawing again until 2-3.30 am..

and so on.. I listened to this song, over and over again, to boost my energy! LOVE IT!

But, I finished two projects last week and have now sent my material to Bild & Bubbla and Galago. That sure feels nice :) Really looking forward to seeing them in print! X3

And, now.. on to the next project!

I've also done cosplay, gone to a manga-convention and Alt-Com, but an update on that later. Now; I need to get some lunch before going of to work!

Celebrate Love!

Celebrate Love.
Really, we should. Every day.
Celebrate the 21 years with my parents. The 19 years with my brother. The 13 years with my cat. The 10 years with my dog. The 8 years with my oldest friend. All the 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 years with my other friends, and with some of them; only a few months. The 5 years with my lovely American friends and family. The 3 years with my driver's license (not the same thing, really, but it does count!). And the list goes on..

Last week I celebrated something else.
Something that's also special and dear to me.
My first year with Anders.

Photo-report from the Swedish Book Fair!

It's been almost two weeks since the annual book fair in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The book fair is a big event, with 101280 recorded visits in 2008, and it keeps growing!

This year the Swedish Comic's Society (Svenska Seriefrämjandet (blir det rätt på engelska?)) and comics in general was given a stage all of our own down at the large first floor of the fair.

Last year, the fantastic Jenny Berggrund, was in charge of the stage. That time it was a smaller stage, hidden on the second floor.
This time around, the honor of coordinating was given me. About the same time I was back from my USA-trip in August, I got the notice, and started working together with the Comic Society in Gothenburg as well as artists, publishers and comic-enthusiasts from all over the country to put together a great schedule for the weekend.
It sure was a lot of hard work, and many long hours, many phonecalls and countless emails, but we got everything together! Thanks to the hard working Gothenburgers, and Jenny for answering her phone when I needed her to! ^^ This was a new experience for most of us, and even though things might not have gone by as smoothly as we'd hoped, it sure was a great weekend, and we got a lot of positive feed-back from the by-standers, fair visitors and comics people. But, hey, "perfect is no good". Still, we learn, and I'm sure next year will be even better!

THURSDAY the 23rd
Sadly, I didn't have my camera present during the day, but this is what went on:
"Live drawing" with Stef Gaines, Yvette Gustafsson, Stina Hjelm, Jesper Nordqvist, Lars Krantz and Valentin Schönbeck. The concept of "live drawing" is simple. The artist's presented on stage, then given a random theme, and have 20 minutes to draw on this theme. During the drawing, we also had short interviews as

"Bild & Bubbla" held a debate about french comics in Sweden. Attending: publishers from Agerings, Albumförlaget, Galago and Kolik. Confrencier: Fredrik Strömberg

Thursday evening, Johnie, my wing-man, and I, along with many others, danced the night away at the Galago party.

FRIDAY the 24th

We had premiere for something entirely new! Comickaraoke!
The students from the Comics Art School in Malmö did karaoke on the comics stage, but instead of singing to the music; they drew.
Succes! The crowd enojed it, and the students seemed to enjoy their 3 minutes of fame as well :)

Malmö vs. Gävle.
The first of the weekend's two comic battles!
Friday evening, it was the two rivaling Comic Art Schools having it at each other.

After five close battles, Malmö was announced winner.
The great Yvette Gustafsson was on stage, explaining the rules and raising the crowd spirits. Max Gustafsson was in charge of the music.

Also; there was live-drawing with Jan Kustfält, Johnie Ekman and Jesper Nordqvist.

After the fair, some of us headed over to the MUS/MOUSE/MAUS exhibition. I was so impressed with all the other artists and their work. The comics can be seen in Stockholm and Gothenburg as well and are included in the latest issue of Bild & Bubbla.

Karl Holmqvist, a great guy who's helped out tons, enjoying the fine art at the exhibition.
Afterwards, we enjoyed fine dining at a Gothenburg restaurant. It sure was a loong time ago I spent so much on one meal, but after the first two hectic days of the weekend, it was worth it, and money well spent!

SATURDAY the 25th

Finnish comic artist Johnie Ekman interviewing Sara Hansson, Sara Granér, Lullis Lange and Lisa Ewald of Dotterbolaget about their exchange with finnish feminist comic artists and their trip to Helsinki this summer.

The second comics battle was held saturday evening. This time it was, in true middle school-spirit, the girls vs. the boys!
Yvette Gustafsson, Malin Biller and Stef Gaines were pumped to take on the guys!

Lars Krantz, Jimmy Wallin and Max Gustafson were confident as well.

After a very long, hard, but truly entertaining ("Jimmy! Don't steal Malins pen!" "But, she stole my joke!") game of five battles, the girls were declared winners!

As a prize, the ladies were given the honor to draw their feelings of the not so long ago swedish election on the big board on stage. Lovely!

Niklas Asker and Malin Biller told about their latest books. The "urhunden" award was presented. And Bild & Bubbla held a interview with the creators of the comic version of Loranga, Masarin och Dartanjang, comicartist Sara Olausson and publisher Camilla Nyman.

SUNDAY the 26th

Live drawing with Tony Cronstam, who was a quick drawer and instead of me asking him questions, he turned around and started interviewing me! Fun!

Interview with Stefan Diös on the swedish translation process of Kalle Anka (Donald Duck).
Live drawing with Joakim Lindengren, Max Gustafson and Fabian Göransson. Stefan Eriksson, teacher at the Comics Art School in Vingåker, did a short presentation of the smaller of the three comic schools in Sweden.

Below are the drawings from the fair presented. After drawing, the artist was asked if we could put the picture on the stage wall (which all gave permission to) and throughout the fair, the collection grew! After the fair, the pictures were sent to svensk seriearkiv (the swedsh comics archive) so that they can be enjoyed not only for the weekend, but also for generations to come.

I'd like to thank all the artists, publishers and comic enthusiasts that have contributed to making this such a great weekend! I am overly proud and think that we all did a superb job!
And, yes, it's hard to imagine, but I'm sure next year will be even better!

"Live teckning” går till såhär:
på scen står ett ritbord vars arbetsyta projiceras mot den bakre väggen. Tecknaren presenteras, får ett slumpmässigt tema, tar plats vid ritbordet och har sedan 20 minuter på sig att teckna fritt utifrån detta tema, framför publik. Besökarna får en chans att se skickliga serietecknare med vitt skilda stilar in action.

Seriescenen drivs av Seriefrämjandet, en ideell organisation som arbetar för att stärka konstarten tecknade seriers position - såväl i det svenska samhället som internationellt. För mer information, se www.serieframjandet.se.

I had two great mentors; Natalia Batista and Åsa Ekström.
Two individuals I look up to, not only as artists, but as hard working, strong women as well.

For quite some time; I've wanted to show my gratitude for their support and feedback, for giving me some of their precious time, and here it is :)

Hello ya'll!!

Most of the time, living life is a great thing.
But, sometimes, you experience people and/or circumstances you cannot control. I guess we all do from time time. At least, I know my life surely hasn't always been a dance upon pretty flowers.

A few months ago, I made terapeuthic comic, for myself. Now, I've decided to share it, and it can be found at Tjejjouren.se's webpage. (direct link to the article)

Trip sketchdump!

Decided to actually scan in some pictures from my ever present little black sketch book. In this beloved book, I write down my thoughts, feelings, event of the day, important things, lists of stuff to do, recepies and doodle. Simply: it's something I cannot be without. It's always with me in my backpack or purse.
So, here's some of the (many of them very quick) drawings from my trip to the US this summer.

- June 24th - This was actually drawn before the trip, but was too cute not to show! A pic of me carrying my moving boxes :)

- Wednesday, June 30th - waiting in New York, passing time drawing a hat. That was SUCH a long trip!

- JFK, June 30th, getting irritated, with people not being curteous enough to stand still while I sneak-draw them (or, maybe I should just draw quicker?)

- June 30th, waiting in Detroit.. And waiting and waiting..

- June 30th - already missing him..

- July 12th - blew a tire while driving the grain cart. Instead of stareing at the COOP guy who was changeing it, I drew the closest thing at hand; huge vehicles! *loves*

- still waiting at the tire-change.. missing my girl..

- July 17th - CBA (colorado bowhunter's association) jamboree. Had gone a few days without drawing, and was too shy to ask any of the boys to let me draw them, so I ended up drawing a vehicle.. again..

- Tuesday, July 20th - Jordan and I are stuck in the mountains, drinking margeritas in the dark and talking longingly about men.. Oddly enough; I ended up craveing a cigarett; something I'd NEVER done before! I mean, come on, I don't even smoke!! But, three weeks without my man, well, I guess I needed one .. (no, Mom, I didn't smoke, I just really badly wanted to!) (the text reads: drawing in the dark.. HARD!)

- July 23rd - doodling a potential dragon-book character while staying with my pal Philip :)

- Thursday, july 29th - A selfportrait, on the plane crossing the Atlantic ocean.

- July 30th - Amsterdam. I cannot see how the passport-clerk possibly could think I still looked like a princess, even after a over nine hour flight! (or, maybe it was about the pink camo-hat that read (in rhinestones) "princess" (curtesy of Elisa)).

Well, I hope you found that interesting! Myself, I really enjoy looking at other artist's scribbles, and I hope mine weren't too hard on the eyes :)

Well, now I'm going back to reading my chic-lit!

I don't know why, but I've ended up reading that "low quality literature", but, hey I kinda like it.. Guess I'm getting old.. Or just.. well.. old.

Compact living.

Slow on updates, but here we go...
It's been almost a month since I got back to Malmö, Sweden after spending a memorable month with my American friends and family in Colorado. Thank you guys!

Since then, well, it's been interesting. Quite hectic at times, but nothing I can't handle.
I still haven't found an apartment, which means that I'm still homeless, more or less. I don't have to live out on the streets, really, but I don't have a place of my own just yet. I've been all over, but I guess it just hasn't worked out with the ones I've looked at so far. Just gotta keep looking, I guess. Meanwhile, the best boyfriend in the world (this based on my own personal experience) let's me stay with him. It's small, but we make it work. Lots of love :D

With only one room in the apartment, there's really no space for me to sit and work at my drawings. Luckily, Dotterbolaget's studio's all up and running, so I've spent some time there and it's been working out real well. Most of the others went to Finland for a week a little while ago, and it sure was lonesome without them. But, now they're back, and things will go back to normal. (I'll post pictures later of the studio)

Also, the job-hunting's gone so-so.
I got hired at this one place, but they turned out to be real shady and I didn't feel comfortable there, so I resigned less than 24 hours after getting the job. But, I've learned from that experience, and am still working hard, looking for a job.

On the upside of things (except having tons of loving and supporting people around me) the work with my childrens' book's been progressing very well.. (I'll keep you updated on this ~.^)

Also, I've been given the honor to help out and be the coordinator for the Swedish Comic Society's "live stage" at the Book Fair in Gothenburg next month. There's tons of preparations to do, but it's very fun, and a learning experience for me :) I'll post more info on events and such once we've got the schedule together.

And at Mangakai Lund we're planning our annual small, one-day convention to the first part of October! Be there or be square!

Aaaand~ I'm taking a computer's (HTML and CSS) class at the university, starting Wednesday, so that'll be interesting.

I guess that's all for now. I better get back to try finding a job and a place to live. Or, no, I'll go with my favorite Yoda quote; "Do or do not, there is no try!" So, I guess that means I WILL find a job and apartment.. Wish me best of luck!

There. I FINALLY did it!
I've climbed a mountain :DD

Went to the Rocky Mountains with my friend Jordan and her family this week, it was lovely! Tons of fun. And, yes, we did climb a mountain :3 My first one! It's called Hoosier Ridge, Summit, CO/Park 6, it's on the Continental divider and 12,331 feet high :DD

There were some weird-looking rock piles on the top.. But the view sure was pretty! (note, rain clouds!)

Well, it was blowing SO hard, and the air is very light up there! It's hard to breathe! Now I understand why climbers say that you're outta breath, beacause, well, it's true! I'm used to being at sea-level, so being this far up really made my head spin, but I was very determined to reach the top. And, I can be pretty stubborn about things when I want to...

And, it was GORGEOUS up there! No wind on the top, strangely enough.. Flowers and some bees, sunshine on our faces :)

Well, going down, we heard thunder, and Jordan said:
"I don't mean to panic you, but we gotta RUN!"
So, we more or less had to "run" down the mountain (running is hard, in that angle, high up, going down, but we really had to hustle!). There was thunder and lightning and wind. Pretty soon the rain came, and with the rain; hail. And, let me tell you something; hail HURTS! And, we were well-above the tree-line (which means we were too high up for trees to grow), so we had nowhere to hide..

Anyways, we made it down, wet and cold, but happy.
Then we spent the rest of the day reading, under the covers, in the camper.

Just writing to let my Swedish friends and family know that I've arrived safe and sound in Holyoke, Colorado, USA!

At the Copenhagen Airport, I learned that my flight had been cancelled (note that I booked, and paid for my tickets, MONTHS ago, but got no info on this from my travel agency!), then got reinstated, but I'd been put out of their system, and they didn't even know if they put me on a plane to New York that day. In the end, they could, but they couldn't put me on a plane to Denver from New York, until the 1st. So either I'd go back to Sweden that day, and go on the 1st, or I could go then (the 29th) to New York, spend the night there, then go to Detroit and from Detroit to Denver on the 30th. Which I did. I had my mind set on going, and I WAS leaving. I had packed all my bags and said "bye for now" to my friends and family! I didn't back down, and in the end I went...

So, to say the least, it was a VERY long travel, and I must admit I've never been so rudely met as I was in New York by the Delta employees. Big let down.. Ah, well, the plane from Detroit to Denver got delayed as well, due to maintainance problems, but it all worked out in the end. Gail, my "american Mom", came and picked me up at the airport last night, which was really nice of her! It was SO good to see her! I've missed everyone over here so much!! It's been three years since my last visit. That is: too long!

I've only been here since yesterday, but already had the time to see a few people, and do some yardwork.. Tonight, we're hopefully going out to dinner. I'll enjoy that. :)

(My carry-on was STUFFED with books! It must have weighted about 15 kg or so (at least!))

Well, I'm looking forward to spending time with my American friends and family for the month I'm staying here :) Hopefully I'll come around to update this blog at least some time during this time.

Zombies galore! :D

Hello ya'll!

Summer's finally come to southern Sweden!
It's late this year... Last year I was at the beach in Lomma in May. Today was the first day I went to school without a jacket (my hoddie was sufficient enough)! Well, it's sweet outside, and I'm enjoying myself!

My current comics-project is a re-make of my "old" Elizabeth. A zombie story.

Here I've tried to use both my "clean" inking and "dirty" one, to give effect and a scary feeling to the pages. I'm having lots of fun with this! Yesterday I got the 5th page inked, and I hope to be done altogether by Friday (so I can spend the weekend adding gray-scales. This I haven't used on any of my comics before, so it'll be interesting how it all turns out :3)

My next project will also be a zombie story, and my first time working with a manuscript written by someone else. A challange I'm looking forward to! I've done a few character doodles, but will not start sketching until My Darling Elizabeth is finished :)

Well, I have a feeling I'm TOO MUCH into zombies ATM. I even had a nightmare with zombies at a airport a few nights ago! DD: That's a first!

Jolly Komiks DK! :D

Hello ya'll!

Back from Komiks DK, and working on my latest project; a re-make of my "old" zombie-love story.. My Darling Elizabeth. More about that when I've got some more pics to post. For now you'll have to settle for the cover-sketch. :3
(behing are the old pages (from last year)).

Last week one of my two second-year mentors, Åsa Ekström, was a guest teatcher at the Comic Art School here in Malmö. She's written about her week (and me! :D) in her blog. It was nice to sit down and have a meeting with her, discuss my progress and plans plans and get constructive critisism.
The only way from here is UP!

Then, it was Komiks DK this weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It was SUCH a good experience! Great people and great comics!

Friday, I attended the Danish comic price award cermony along with my mentor Åsa, classmate Martin and teacher Fredrik, who introduced me to new people. Very interesting! I hardly knew anyone to begin with, but it turned out to be a really nice evening. :3

Saturday and Sunday, Nat, Teru, Maria and I helped out at the Genki-corner at the convention. It's always a pleasure hanging out with our danish friends! We sold our fanzines and Maria held a short drawing lesson. Much appreciated!

My dear talented friend and classmate Martin Flink's book The Man of Glass debuted! Congrats! :D Of course I got in line to get myself a signed copy!

I was published for the very first time! Yay!
The Danish anthology SPRIT (Fahrenheit/AbenMaler) turned out really well and I got to meet a few of the co-artists at the convention, who all seeemed very nice :) I stood at the SPRIT-table for two hours Sunday and helped sell a few books. Thanks everyone who supported us!

Also, I got Dave Gibbon's signature in my Watchmen book! :D I asked for a Dr.Manhattan drawing, and he agreed to give me one! Happiness! Fangirl heaven!
(he doesn't look too happy, but who cares? XD)

Conclusion; I met a whole lot of new people, got tons of inspration and bought a few comics. Hopefully I've learned from this experience and my new connections might lead me somewhere..

Komiks DK this weekend! :D

Yes, the 21st through 23rd of May will be the Komiks DK, in Copenhagen Denmark!

Hoooray! Finally it's here! I've been looking so much forward to this event! This will be my first time at Komiks DK, and I'm very excited about it!

I'll be helping out my great danish friends at the Genki-table. Here you will able to get your hands on your very own copy of my "Silver Pearl"! I'll even sign it for you ;D

Also, I will be published in Aben Maler's anthology "SPRIT" with a seven page comic called "Everyday I See My Dream". It's a autobiographic story about my love for myself. Read more about the book here.
The book will be released at the convention and sold at Aben Maler's table. I'll be at the table 15-17 at Sunday, so please feel free to stop by then ^^

SPX 2010 was a BLAST!
It was nice and all last year, but, well, let's just say things get better all the time ^^

I went up to the Capitol (of Sweden, which is Stockholm) a few days ahead and spent some lurwely time with my artist friends I haven't seen in tooo long :) (thanks for having me! <3)

Silver Pearl - all done and sent to the printer!

Hooray! Finally I'm done!

I've been working hard to finish on time, and now, I can proudly tell ya'll that I've succeeded!
Silver Pearl is all done and sent to the printer. I can hardly wait until I have the finshed product in my hands. :)It will be avaiable at SPX (Small Press Expo) in Stockholm, Sweden, in a few weeks. Shortly after that, I will put it up for purchase through my homepage.

This is the coverart for my latest comic-book fanzine; Silver Pearl.
Follow young Sir William Weatherfield, the bitter first son of the British Prime Minister, as he finds love in the most unexpected of places..
It's a story about high expectations, pressure, distrust, friendship and love, or more really the main characters doubt; that there is no such thing as true love. There's only power, money and influence..

SPX (Small Press Expo) in Stockholm is coming up! (last weekend of April)

For this event, I will print my current project, Silver Pearl, as a fanzine book (manga manazine-size, 70 pages, with a proper professional glue binding).

Here it is, finally! :D Fanny's rapport from BD Angoulême!
My classmates at the Comics Art School in Malmö, my teacher + some other "comic people" went to the great comic festival in Angolulême, France.

The festival was the 28-31st of January.
We left from Malmö on the 26th by train..

No, really it's a church in Köln. I'm serious about going here agian JUST to check it out! Huge! A thousand times more impressive than Nothre Dame, to be honest with you..

We arrived in Angoulême the 27th. We enjoyed the town and went for a stroll in the beautiful city.

This is the "small" alternative tent. Tent my ASS! And SMALL!?!? I don't think so!

The comic's scene in France is much bigger than the swedish one. I was very impressed, overwhelmed actually! SO much to see!

The Manga Building!

In the manga building they had a exhibition with EEichiro Oda's orginals! :D (the manga One Piece) This woke the 14years-old fangirl in me! I was SO excited!

The copic-originals especially impressed me! Oda's such an skilled artist!

Viking manga FTW!

I strongly recomend you to check this out. The artwork's really impressive! Very details (especially the viking-ships and battle-scenes). And, well, a manga about Thorfinn! Who would've guessed? The Japanese never cease to surprise..

Angoulême by night.

A very cozy town. Pretty buildings (I took tons of referense photos!)
The red ballons laid on nets between the houses and helped the visitors find their way between the different sites in town. (I'm amazed the local kids didn't "pop" them!)

Frida, Johan, Jacob and I spent a lot of time together. I had a great time, guys! Thanks for making this trip into such a success! :D

Went around looking for potential publishers, and it was fun to see that they actually had quite a few french mangas :D (that is, comics in a "manga-style" drawn by a french person).

There was an exhibition with a Japanese design school from Osaka. They had originals from their manga classes, and I got to meet a few students plus the professor. How cool isn't that!? A real japanese manga-professor went through and gave chritique on my manga (Silver Pearl)!! I got a few really good advice and I will take them to heart as I strive on in my quest to become a great manga artist! *strikes fighting pose*

Robert Crumb's first public appearance in six (or was it seven?) years, and who's there?! Fanny and Frida! :D

He spoke some of his past work, but wasn't too fond of them. "That was another life." he said. Well, I can understand that, he is a old man now, after all. He even admitted that he had to kill Fritz the Cat because he hated him so much ..

Mostyl he spoke of his new book "genesis" and it really was interesting listening to his thoughts on religion and society. He is a wise man, open-eyed. I can honestly say that I truly respect him.

RARARRAGHGHHHGFFFHH!!!!

On our way back home from Angoulême Frida, Johan, Jacob and I stayed a night in Paris!

I had never been there, so it felt stupid just passing it by with the train and not visiting! So, here I am, standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Jacob and I went to the Louvre (loved it!) and then met up with the others.

The weather was lovely as we walked through Paris. The sun shining and kissing my face. Totally diffrenent from the cold, harsh, snowy Sweden I went back to.. -__-'

On the way home, the train was seeeriously delayed. Six whole hours!

Well, it was snowing so hard in Germany, Denmark and Sweden we weren't sure we'd ever get home! The Öresunds bridge had been closed for several hours, and no trains went cross it to Malmö.

On the photo, we're just about loosing our minds, sitting on the train too long XD

But, in the end, we made our ways home. Tired. Exhausted.

Though, as I've said before, it truly was one of the best trips I've EVER made in my life!

SO interesting! So overwhelming! So much to see! I know I didn't even see half of it all, but, hey, there's always next year ;D

I just wanted to tell all my friends and family that I think of you all often and love you very much!
I'm just having a hard time finding time for everyone! (there's too many of you X.x)

I worry a lot. That you feel unseen and unloved, which you truly are NOT! There's just so much of me, and sometimes I feel that there's just not enough of me to go around..

But, trust me, I really do try..
Still, this is all very important to me as well. My drawing. And, I feel that if not now, when will be the time? I love it! It's hard work, yes it is, but all so very worth it. I hope that you can/will see that as well.

I hope you can bare with me always working for the time being, and will forgive me once I'm a huge comic-artist and can buy you all cake! ♥

Just to make things clear.. - Angoulême 2010

Okej, jag tar det här på svenska, för att förhoppningsvis undkomma eventuella språkliga missförstånd och misstolkningar.

Jag kom nyligen tillbaka till underbara (om än snökatastrofala) Skåne efter en resa till Bande Dessine-festivalen i Angoulême, Frankrike.
Detta är, för oss som inte kan franska, kort och gott en seriefestival som håll i denna sköna lilla stad varje år (detta var den 37e fesitvalen).
Det har varit en underbar resa! Så mycket intryck! Så mycket att se! Verkligen intressant (återkommer med ett mer utförligt inlägg om ett par dagar, ska bara landa lite först). Jag är så glad att jag hade möjligheten att få följa med! Jag fick umgås med en massa fina människor och lära känna nya ansikten. En av de bästa resor jag gjort i mitt liv! :D

Dessvärre, under resans andra dag skedde det ett par incidenter, vilka individer som inte varit på plats fått helt om bakfoten och blåst upp enormt.
Min lärare (Serieskolan i Malmö) och mentor Fredrik Strömberg var med på resan i Angoulême (agerade reseledare och höll koll på oss vilsna tecknare (Tack!)). Detta är en person som jag tycker mycket om och ser upp till. I mina ögon är han en god och fin människa.
Dessvärre har han en humor som inte alltid är helt rumsren. Okej, jag måste såklart erkänna att jag personligen tycker om att skämta om sex etc. (med mina kamrater) och att mörk humor och ironi kan vara bland det roligaste som finns. Samtidigt så finns det en gräns. I vissa fall är det inte okej att skämta på ett visst sätt eller säga vissa saker. Detta är när den som det skämtas om tar illa upp, blir sårad, kränkt eller på annat sätt känner sig obekväm. (<- min personliga åsikt) Då finns det inget annat att göra än att backa och be om ursäkt.
(Fine, freedom of speech och allt det där, men jag tycker ändå att man kan respektera sina medmänniskor, för en trevligare livssituation)

Så, för er som inte var med på resan, det var såhär det var*;
(*det finns ingen absolut sanning. Alla har en egen uppfattning om tid och rum. Det här är min sanning.)

På resan mot Angoulême var vi fem elever från Serieskolan samt ett par andra "seriemänniskor". Vi åkte tåg ner.
Under resans gång umgicks vi, pratade och skojade. Hade allmänt trevligt, liksom. Men, vid ett antal tillfällen skämtade min lärare, Fredrik, med min klasskamrat Frida Ulvegren på ett opassande sätt, varvid hon tog illa vid sig och det blev lite dålig stämning en stund i kupén. Det var ett sexuellt skämt, varvid Frida sa "Nu går du över gränsen, Fredrik, det där var inte okej, det där är sexuella trakasserier."
Sen var det inte mer med det.. Efter en stunds pinsam tystnad återgick vi till våra konversationer, tecknande och läsande. Vi åkte vidare.
På kvällen, väl framme i Angouleme, stötte jag på de härliga serieherrarna när jag väntade på mina kamrater utanför en bar (ett riktigt härligt gäng! :D) Vissa var dock ganska glada i hatten (berusade). Jag samtalade lite med dem, varvid Fredrik, i sitt sätt att skämta, åter gick över gränsen. Jag tyckte rent ut att det inte var så jävla roligt. Jag tog illa vid mig.
Om det är något jag lärt mig i mitt liv är det att inte ta skit. Inte av någon. Det har jag redan gjort nog i mitt liv (sedan barnsben). Och, speciellt efter mitt förra förhållande, som var väldigt destruktivt, bestämde jag mig för att aldrig låta någon trampa på mig igen.
Så, jag sa "Du, det där skulle man kunna anmäla som sexuella trakasserier!" Varvid en närstående manlig svensk serietecknare höll med och sa "ja.. annars gör jag det.." Men, well, det hela skämtades ganska snart bort och jag pratade vidare med Fredrik, och jag fick information om hur jag skulle ga till väga nästa dag under festivalen och så. Normalt student-teacher snack, alltså...
Så kom mina kamrater och herrarna gick glatt vidare.

På väg till vårt boende berättade jag för Frida (fina, fina, vackra kvinna!) vad som hänt, för jag var fortfarande lite irriterad på det.. Varvid hon tog illa upp, å mina vägnar, och blev ordentligt arg. Jag förstår henne. Enough is enough, liksom, och trots att jag själv kände att det var ganska utagerat höll jag med om att man kanske borde göra någon sorts markering. Frida bestämde sig för att blogga om händelsen.

Dessvärre blev inlägget ganska vagt i fråga om vad det var som egentligen hade hänt.
Jag har fått intryck av att folk hemma i Sverige fick just detta, detaljerna i sammanganget, helt om bakfoten. Detta var ju inte direkt meningen..

För ett par dagar sedan satte sig Fredrik ner och pratade med oss (när vi fortfarande var på festivalen) om händelsen. Vi berättade hur vi kände och upplevt det hela. Varav han omedelbart bad om ursäkt och erkände att han gjort fel där.
Att kunna erkänna att man gjort fel är stort. Jävligt stort. Tyvärr känner jag alltför många människor som inte kan det. Men, det gjorde han.
Det kändes bra. För alla parter.
Jag tycker väldigt mycket om både Frida och Fredrik. De är fina människor. Människor att se upp till. Goda vänner. :)

Jag vill dem inget ont.
Det borde inte ni heller.

Alltså, to make things short;
Ja, Fredrik skämtade på ett opassande sätt med både mig och Frida. (han har dock aldrig rört oss på ett sexuellt sätt! Jag har aldrig sett honom som något sådant sorts hot över huvud taget!) Detta var inte okej.
Vi tog illa vid oss, men han bad om ursäkt och medgav fel. 'tis all forgiven. End of story.

Resten av resan var som sagt underbar!
Haft jättekul! :D Tack alla som var med och förgyllde den!

Dotterbolaget och FÄRG

Dotterbolaget har varit så ljuvligt snälla och accepterat mig i sin grupp! Yay! Det skall bli spännande att få vara med :)
Just nu vankas det utställning i Norrköping och är full aktivitet inför detta. (mer info om denna när det är dags)

Igår var det möte och jag lämnade in en serie på 7 sidor + en illustration till "tema väggen" om våld.
Här lekte jag återigen med vattenfärger och känner att det blir bara bättre och bättre. :) Tycker om den luftiga känslan och jag ville att bilden skulle vara "mjuk", som en kontrast till det hårda innehållet.

Bilden är en sorts "preview" på ett projekt jag kommer att göra inom en obestämd framtid. När och hur resultatet blir får den som lever se..

Right now, it's under re-construction, but will be nothing but fabulous in a few weeks time!

- Nerdculture
During the fall of 2008 and sprin 2009, T. Wadbro, Robin Ragnarsson, Diana Davidsson and myself worked on our project called "Nerdculture", where we made comics about ourselves and our lives as nerds and students at the Serieskolan (comic's art school). We ended up printing a fanzine for SPX, with 50 copies that's now more or less sold out. :)

- International Manga Award - January

Sent a contribution called "If You Only Knew". No luck this time around, though.

But! I strongly believe that there's a meaning to everything that happens and that I learn something from each and every experience I go through. Not a single line is drawn without learning or getting better! I just have to keep pressing on and someday, I will break through!

The comic was later printed in "Pieces of My Heart" (no comics go to waste here!)

- Mangatalangen (swed: "the manga talent") - March

Sent a contribution to the contest, which sadly was cancelled. Too bad, not only for my sake, but it would have been fun to see how it went. So many of my friends and colleagues sent comics.

My comic was called "Sandra-det finaste som finns". Later translated into english (and was just called "Sandra") and printed in Think Ink's "Mangazine".

- "Welcome To Wonderland" - April

As a part of the ever so lovely comic-studio Think Ink, I was proud to present our second fanzine at SPX. This time with original characters and storeis (or first fanzine, in the fall of 2008, had been all fanart). The theme was "out of the ordinary" with vampires, muses, alice in wonderland, zombies etc.

Here I tried to step outside my box and drew a zombie-shojo (girl's comic), using a lot of black and white contrasts (for being me), and I was satisfied with the result.

The comic I made for this little anthology was called "Elizabeth", and was also printed in "Pieces of My Heart".

- "Pieces of My Heart" - April

Being inspired by my dear friend, and later mentor, Natalia Batista, looking how she was in the progress of printing her own books (!!) I wanted to give it a try myself. And, so I did. Working lika a madman, I not only drew all those pages and wrote all the text, but also did the cover + design and put it all together and brought to the print shop. A few of my friends did fanart (thank you guys!) Nat proof-read the whole thing (being my walking dictionary of choice). Natalia and her sister Catta gave me qriticue on the artwork, and, well, overall I could not have been able to finish it without Natalia. She's taught me sooo much!
The book was printed in 150 copies, and has been sold on several conventions, such as SPX, Finncon, Kodachi-kun etc. Over 100 (!) has been sold so far! (I will put it up for online sale through my homepage ASAP).

Small Press Expo - a comics festival in Stockholm, Sweden.

This was my first time going, and I can see myself going here every year from now on! SO much fun! All the people, all the comics! Whew! Just overwhelmingly fun and interesting all over!

Seven of my friends and I went to Finland's biggest manga/anime/sci-fi/fantasy convention!

We cosplayed, sold fanzines and got to meet the awesome Gorge R.R. Martin (read more here).

The darling Frida and I held "Rita Gissa Vinn" (draw, guess, winn) for the first time at the festival.

A dynamic duo was born!

- Bokmässan - The Gothenburg Book Fair - September

My third time going to this marvelous event. Books. Books! BOOKS! Everywhere! I LOVE the atmosphere! The people! Sooo much to look at! It never ends! :D

Frida and I entered Seriefrämjandets stage once a day with "Rita Gissa Vinn"! Success! It was SO much fun! And, I got to meet a lot of new, exciting people! I hope to go this year as well!

Every second year there's the "I Seriernas Värld" (swedish; "in the world of comics") festival in the lovely city of Malmö.

This time I had the opportunity to take part with the arrangements!

Frida and I held comic battles twice plus a dress-up contest at the masquearde party at Debaser! T.Wadbro and I held a cosplay catwalk during the introduction ceremony. Thanks to everyone that participated!

Also, Think Ink has a table at the market-area and sold fanzines :)

- ISV's comic contest

The festival also held a comics-contest. I participated with a comic called "Simon och Sahar" (Simon and Sahar). But, no luck this time either.

Still, I really love these two characters and the full concept and idea around them. In 2010, I will work more on them and hopefully it might lead somewhere.. Never give up!

- First professional illustration(s)!

Now, this is really something! Very big for me! I illustrated a ad + an icon for Kulturlovet (the culture break) for the city of Malmö! :D

The ad was printed in the ISV-booklet and the icon was seen not only on the internet, but all around town on posters and even in an ad in Metro!

- Hentai-doujinshi

I drew my first hentai (erotic) comic! :D *proud as proud can be* (read more here.)

- J-popcon

Cosplayed and sold fanzines at Denmarks largest con :D (read more here).

- Applied to start my own company

Skatteverket (the swedish tax agency) aught to drop me a letter any day now. Sooon~ I'll FINALLY have that FA-skattsedeln (tax-thingy that means you can bill people, more or less)! Yooosh!

Went to a info-meeting at the Skatteverket plus a full-day "Nyföretagar dag" (new-started company day) at standsbiblioteket in Malmö to prepare.

- Kodansha's 4th Morning International Comics Contest

My lastest accomplicement was to finish my comic "Silver Pearl" on time to the Kodansha contest :)

This is a story I've wanted to do ever since 2004, so it feels really good having that all done. I am very proud with the finish as well. This will (probably) be made into a fanzine to SPX in the spring.

Yes, it sure has been quite a year! (here I even skipped writing all my personal drama -__-') And, I am sure that 2010 will bring new experiences, meetings, comics and friends.

Vinter

Nu är der baske mig vinter!
Både här hemma i Skåne (som egentligen inte är Skåne, utan mitt barndoms Finland hos Mumu, för så här ser det INTE ut i Skåne på vintern .. Någonsin!) och i min serie är det snö snö snö~!
Sitter i rummet i Lund och ritar som en idiot på mitt senaste serieprojekt "Silver Pearl" som skall vara inskickat till Kodansha-tävlingen senast den 31e december! Och, gawd vad mycket jag har kvar att göra! Det tar ju aldrig slut X.x
Att tänka "ja, men jag hinner rita 40 sidor på typ en månad" var kanske lite optimistiskt till att börja med, men när det sedan smiter iväg till 46 sidor itället börjar det brinna lite i knutarna.
Well, det är inget annat att göra än att JOBBA JOBBA JOBBA!!

Rapport från Jpopcon 2009

För tredje året i rad åkte jag och mina kamrater till Valby, Danmark och J-popcon!
J-popcon är ett av de äldre manga/anime-konventen i Danmark och det största i landet av sin sort. Det är alltid en kul upplevelse, inte bara att nörda kring bland cosplayare, manga och Tv-spel (etc.) men även att träffa sina vänner och få nya ^^

Think Inks Diana, Amanda, Nat och Fanny <3

Nästan hela Think Ink (utom yngsta medlemmen) var på plats och sålde fanzine! Dels våra egna fanzine, men även studions gruppfanzine. Alltid lika kul att få träffa sina läsare och prata med människor! :D Dessutom har jag det glädjande beskedet att meddela att mitt fösta fanzine "Pappi Löv - Love Hurts" (titlen skapades över ett år innan jag var medveten om att det fanns en svensk serie vid det namnet) - sålde sitt hundrade (100) ex!! :D Lycka och glädje!! Tack alla som supportat mig!

En av J-popcons största attraktionen är dess cosplaytävling.
Undertecknad steg givetvis upp till kamp med sina kamrater som karaktärer ur mangan/animen Black Lagoon (av Rei Hiroe) (bifogade bilder längre ner). Var övernöjda med allas insats. Rent ut sagt; fan vad GRYMMA vi var!! X))
Vinnarna av årets WCS (world cosplay summit) var "Kingdom Hearts - Halloween Village Version"-paret. De får äran att representera Danmark i Japan i sommar under världsmästerskapet i cosplay! Häftigt!

Att bli shojomangatecknare (shojo=japanska flickserier) är en av mina största drömmar.

Som sådan måste man bemästrat färgläggning. Det har inte jag. Änn.

Eftersom copics ännu inte tilltalat mig (och är SNUSKIGT dyrt) har jag valt att arbeta med aquarelle. Plus att det tidigare varit lite av min "grej". Nu har jag ju inte använt aquarellfärger sedan högstadiet, så det känns som att övning är på sin plats. X//

Därför är veckans projekt att måla en snabb aquarellbild varje morgon i skolan.

Svensk hentai doujinshi! - "Violent Kiss"

Okej, jag vet att jag inte är först, men många finns det inte.. Jag talar så klart om svensk hentai doujinshi.

Dounjinshi är typ det japanska ordet för fanzine, fast oftast "fan":baserade, dvs. att de handlar om karaktärer som redan finns (ex. om man skulle ta och göra en doujinshi om Skalman och Bamse..). Hentai är kort och gott tecknad porr.

Vadan då detta? Jo, ett antal svenska tecknare, inkl. mig själv, kommer att sätta ihop en erotik-antologi lagom till SPX (Small Press Expo, Stockholm) i vår, och jag aldrig fullbordat en sådan serie (har börjar ett par gånger, men kommit av mig lagom tills det "börjar hända saker" -__-'). Därför kände jag att det nog var lika bra att göra en "test-serie" innan den "riktiga" serien till antologin. För enkelhetens skull valde jag att teckna två redan befintliga karaktärer. Detta eftersom man då inte behöver arbeta på bakrgundshistoria och annat tjafs (eftersom detta redan finns i serien, och som fansen är väl insatta i) och fokusera på det som är roligt. SNUSK!

Så, såhär tjusigt blev det:

"Handling": Balalaika (en rysk maffiaboss) och Mr.Cheng (hong kong maffiaboss) träffas i hamnen i en laglös stad någonstans i sydöstra Asien. Båda röker. Balalaika slänger sin cigarr, tar Changs och kysser honom så våldsamt att hon dunkar in honom i väggen. Sedan knuffar hon in honom i en gränd där de slåss om dominans.. Höhöhö.. Erhm, ja, ett vinnande koncept helt enkelt.

Serien är en "fan-serie" och karaktärerna kommer från mangan/animen "Black Lagoon" av Rei Hiroe. (om jag inte minns fel har den tom. visats på svensk TV)

Det var tänkt att inte bli en så lång serie (pga, mitt redan pressade tidschema) men landade på 20 sidor -__-' Den är svar/vit och läses på "västerländskt håll" (vänster till höger).

"Vilent Kiss" kostar 30kr och finns att köpa hos mig i studion på Serieskolan, på konvent där jag befinner mig eller skicka ett mail så kan vi säkert ordna leverans på nåt sätt..

Rapport från ISV

Här kommer så en liten rapport från I Seriernas Värld (ISV) som var i Malmö under kultur(höst)lovet. Under veckan bjöd seriestaden på diverse evenemang i seriernas tecken.
Den 30e oktober till 1e november var det seriemässa på Form och DesignCenter i Malmö. Här var såklart min finfina studio, Think Ink, och sålde fanzin. På mässan var det debut för studions tredje gemensamma fanzin, kallat "Mangazine - More Than Meets the Eye". Med korta, avslutade historier. Detta var ett samlingsfanzine med de serier vi skapade till den mangatävling som hölls i våras, men sedan dessvärre inte blev genomförd. Därav är läsriktningen på fanzinet höger-till-vänster (istället för "som vanligt (vänster-till-höger)). Det bjuder på allt möjligt; från kvinnlig och manlig kärlek, till humor, självbeaktning och fantasi. Fanzinet har 60 sidor och kostar 30 kr (engelsk text).

På fredagen var det Cosplaycatwalk med undertecknad och T.Wadbro på Form och DesignCenter. Vi informerade lite kort om cosplay, och cosplayers visade upp sina imponerande kreationer.

Senare på kvällen höll den fantastiska dynamiska duon Frida och Fanny i serietecknarbattle. Här var det Malmö (Mattias Elftorp & Johan Jergner) mot Stockholm (Kim W Andersson & Fabian Göransson). Efter en hård, jämn och minst sagt underhållande match var det Malmö som tog hem segern..

På lördagskvällen var det Seriemaskeradsfest på Debaser. Kom man utklädd fick man halva priset på inträdet. Var en hel del finfina dräkter, minst sagt! :D Även här var det serietecknarbattle! Denna gång med en piffig liten twist! Att tecknarna tecknade på Tshirts som sedan lottades ut till publiken! Succé! :D

Så har man ätligen börjat serieskolans andra år och fint är vad det är!

Har varit så himla kul att få träffa alla gamla godingar igen, samt kika lite på de "stackars små ettorna" XD Har intagit en studio tillsammans med två andra flitiga serietecknare. Inspiration var det här!

Har även påbörjat min serie till I Seriernas Världs serietävling. Huj så fint det blir! :D

(ja, tyvärr kan jag inte skryta öppet med den förren efter tävlingen, men jag blir nog ganska nöjd iaf :D)

Hoppas att alla haft en härlig sommar! :D

Själv har jag bla. infunnit mig på Finncon (http://2009.finncon.org/) i Helsingfors, Finland i juli. (samt passat på att hälsa på finsk släkt och vänner)

Det var en oförglömlig upplevelse! Vilket konvent! Mellan 6-9 TUSEN besökare och hur mycket cosplay som helst! Dessutom hade de välkända fantasy/sci-fi författare närvarande. Bla. en personlig favorit; George R R Martin, författare av "A Song of Ice and Fire" (om du inte redan läst dessa rekomenderar jag dig dem varmt! ^^) Jag och mina kamrater cosplay:ade från dessa böcker och fick tillfälle att möta och tala med författaren vid flera tillfällen under helgen. Sikken grej!

Min studio Think Ink Studio samt våra kära kamrater Nosebleed Studio fanns på plats i deras "artist alley" och sålde fansin till höger och vänster. Jag älskar att vara på konvent och sälja fansin! Det är så kul att möta folk och höra deras kommentarer, se deras reaktioner. (även om de inte alltid köper något) x3

I övrigt kan jag meddela att jag kom in på Serieskolan i Malmös (Kvarnby FHSK) andra år! Jaaaa~~ Jag ser verkligen fram emot det. På måndag fortsätter så alltså kampen om serietronen och läsarnas hjärtan! *dramatisk pose*

Tyvärr har jag även under sommaren jobbat mycket (på mataffär) samt gått igenom en personlig kris, vilket resulterat i ytterst begränsat tecknande. Men, jag är på god väg ur den, och ser mycket fram emot hösten med nya möten och kreativa yttringar!

Så har man äntligen fått* de tjusiga fotona från den ännu tjusigare utställningen (som jag hoppas att ingen av er missade!)

Klassen delades in i olika färger (röd, svart, gul och grön/blå). Sedan fick vi komma fram till en geografisk plats utifrån vår färg.

Missa inte utställningen på Serieskolan årgång X utropar sig till självständig republik och bjuder in till utställning. På vandringen genom vårt märkliga serielandskap upplever ni allt från kalla vintervidder till heta öknar, djupa havsvärldar och höga höjder. Ni bevittnar sällsamma historier. Mytiska viskningar såväl som sakliga berättelser ur vardagslivet. Vernissage kl. 17-21 på fredagen.

Var som bekant på SPX (small press expo) i vår kära huvudstad för ett par veckor sedan.
Det var första gången jag var där, och det var verkligen intressant! Massa spännande människor och nya intryck! En hel del sålda fanzine (ungefär lika många sålda som köpta, i slutändan, men jag antar att det inte går att undvika..).
Verkligen att rekomendera, och jag kommer definitivt tillbaka nästa år! <3
Tack till alla hjälpsamma människor, och alla som köpte mina/våra/ fanzine!

Årets Kodachi-kun (konvent jag är med och arrangerar, info finns på mangakailund.org) var succé! Många besökare, och ovanligt många cosplayare. Roligt!
Några sålda fanzine, och positiv feed-back. :3

Kan nu meddela att saken är klar; jag, samt 2 till 5edelar av Think Ink, kommer att infinna sig på Finncon den 10-12 juli i Helsingfors, Finland!
Vi kommer att finnas i deras "Art Alley" plus på cosplayscenen (som vanligt)!
Ser verkligen fram emot det! Hoppas att vi ses!

Serieskolan at Julstöket in Lund 30th of November (this Sunday).

Come meet me and my classmates at Julstöket!
We'll be selling our "Get a Grip" and "The Halloween Fanzeen" fanzines at the market! There'll also be our individual fanzines.

Our latest collaboration is the Christmas Fanzine.
Since most of the class failed to be done on time, we only have a preview, but still it's greeeeat~ (my comic's in it) so come see us (and buy our stuff :D)!

This is the first page of my christmas comic to the christmas fanzine,
